A shot in the arm for Pell Grants

The health care Reform Bill passed by the US federal government with its companion student aid reform bill is a highly beneficial and meaningful victory for young people in recent times. It has provided a much needed boost to student grants programs for ensuring better educational opportunities for young people. The $36 billion boost to the Pell grants program will allow millions of needy students from middle and lower income groups to have easier access to higher education.

The overhaul of federally backed student loans will ensure that borrowers approach the government directly for these loans instead of going to banks and other lenders. This does away with middle men, private lenders, government backed subsidies to banks ensuring savings of $61 billion over 10 years. So college loans taken by parents for their children will become cheaper and easier to obtain.

The Pell grant amount will now increase to a maximum of $5,500 this year and will rise to $5,975 by 2017. The Pell grants program also invests billions of dollars in community colleges, minority-serving institutions and college completion programs.

The response from the student community to these reforms has been largely positive with Tweets hailing the bill as a victory for student activism. The student community now hopes that better education will be within their grasp, with an easier access to college grants and education grants.

The Jeti UV is the latest addition to our imaging and printing arsenal. You’ll love the great graphic value it can print. We call it bFlat printing because instead of printing to roll stock and laminating to boards, bFlat means you print directly on the board so it costs a lot less. Also, since the inks are outdoor durable they don’t require face lamination, another cost savings. Lastly, it can print on just about any flat surface up to 2” thick.
